Baseball
- 1995 World Series Game 6 – Braves v. Indians After losing the 1991 and 1992 World Series, as well as the 1993 NLCS, the Braves (seemingly dubbed “The Team of the 90s” just a tad bit too early) finally put it all together in 1995. Tom Glavine was masterful, allowing just one hit and three walks over eight shutout innings, with Mark Wohlers working the ninth for the save. David Justice provided all the offense Atlanta needs with a sixth-inning solo shot off Jim Poole.
- 2001 NLCS, Game 1 – Braves v. Diamondbacks Cy Young Award winners Randy Johnson and Greg Maddux faced off in the Series opener at Bank One Ballpark. Though Maddux would only give up two runs in seven innings, he would be outdone by Johnson, who pitched a complete game shut-out with eleven strikeouts.
Football
- 2017 Iron Bowl – #1 Alabama v. #6 Auburn We’re not going to post a description. We have some dignity. 🙂 For that same reason, 2013 isn’t listed.
- 2008 Iron Bowl – #1 Alabama v. Auburn Alabama’s first win in Tuscaloosa and Tubb’s last game as Auburn’s coach.
- 1979 Sugar Bowl – #2 Alabama v. #1 Penn State The goal line stand – what else can you say?
NASCAR
- 1979 Daytona 500 See Richard Petty grab the victory that spawned ‘the fight’ that put the sport of NASCAR on the map.
- 2004 Rockingham A young rookie named Kasey Kahne gives defending series champion Matt Kenseth all he can handle in the storied track’s last NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. The win would place Kenseth only seven points behind points-leader Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Kahne would finish second in only his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start.
- 1992 GM Goodwrench 500 Could Kyle Petty win three in a row at Rockingham and come close to clinching the championship?
- 2011 Pepsi 400 Using lessons learned from his father, Dale Jr wins the first race at Daytona following his father’s death.
Basketball
- 1993 NBA Finals Game 4 – Knicks v. Bulls
- 2004 NCAA Tournament – Alabama v. Stanford – Alabama defeats Stanford on their way to their first Elite Eight appearance
